Yo! My name is Noah, and I'm a third-year medical student. I grew up in San Jacinto, California, and graduated with a degree in Neuroscience at UCLA in 2021. I am a basketball and ping pong enthusiast.

I am originally from Jamaica. I previously worked with the CDC, Department of State, CDC Foundation and The Global Fund. I’m an avid traveler, and some may say I’m afflicted with nesomania, as I love traveling to islands, the islander in me has never left. I enjoy reading newspapers, watching jeopardy and pub trivia. I am an unwavering fan of the Miami Heat, and according to my mother I am addicted to NBA basketball. I also love track and field and going to the movies. I have a pretty eclectic taste when it comes on to music, and listen to almost everything, particularly reggae, R & B and Afrobeat in recent years. I am really excited about living in the Telluride House and looking forward to my time in the University of Michigan Medical School’s MEDPREP Postbac program for career changers.

Hello my name is Riley, I’m in my second year at LSA and the Telluride House. I’m pursuing a double Major in Honors Mathematics and Afroamerican and African Studies. I am a member of the Foriegn Language and Area Studies Fellowship (FLAS) cohort for the 2024-2025 academic year, studying Swahili in East Africa. I am also student-staff in LSA Honors department as a Perlman Common’s supervisor. In the long term, I hope to study the underrepresentstion of black and African people in mathematical history while pursuing a career in mathematical research. This year I am the Financial Officer (Treasurer) for MBTA and the founder/current chair of the Greenhouse Committee (aka GreenCom or the Garden Goblins) which, as the name suggests, manages the growth of plants in the box gardens and greenhouse. In my freetime I do all kinds of fiberworks (knitting, crochet, spinning yarn, and some needle felting) and take care of my two rabbits Ariel and Pebble. I listen to mostly funk, and right now my favorite artist is Sam Greenfield.

Hi, I'm Cassidy! I'm a senior studying Communication & Media and Women's & Gender Studies. I'm interested in the intersections of gender, race, and nation, as well as algorithms and how they affect our online experiences. I was born and raised in Michigan, and love all the lakes and rivers we have here. Outside of school, I like to meander around Ann Arbor, do silly crafts, hang out with friends, try new food, crochet, and/or spend time in nature.

Hi, I'm Zuzanna! I'm in the MD-PhD Program at the Michigan Medical School, currently studying as a first-year student in the Ph.D. program in Philosophy. My philosophical research interests are in the realm of moral philosophy as it relates to the practice of medicine; questions about informed consent, autonomy, and the moral use of biomedical enhancements intrigue me the most. In my free time, I enjoy tennis, skiing, running, the whimsical, cute animals, and hanging out with my fellow housemates!

Hey there, I am Abdul. I am an anthro nerd and filmmaker. I am BIG lover of using stories and experiences to think about the issues we often see in numbers. My schtick is: to know ourselves and the world better we have to expand whose perspectives and world views contribute to that story. I’m currently a second-year PhD student in Anthropology, with a focus on development, migration, displacement and something to do with film. My research has taken me to refugee settlements in Uganda and African communities in India. When I’m not immersed in my academic work, I’m either binge-watching Abbott Elementary or rewatching House of the Dragon with my awesome housemates. You’ll also find me reading, writing, or editing whenever I get the chance. This year, I’m serving on the House Advisory Committee and contributing to the Project Development Committee, where I’m excited to bring my skills to the table.

Hello, I’m Sarah! I’m originally a transfer student from my local community college (community college for the win :) ), and last year was my first in LSA. I am currently studying history and museum studies, but my interests are quite vast, so I wouldn’t be surprised if I end up adding on a major during my time here. This is my first year being at the Telluride House, and it has been so wonderful joining this community! I am serving as one of two house secretaries this year as well as the Employee Coordinator Apprentice. I am also an adjunct member of the Event Planning Committee.

I love going to concerts, traveling, and good vibes! I’m always down for a fun time and trying new things. If anyone needs a concert buddy (preferably a Billie Eilish one), I’m almost always available. :)

Howdy. My name is Matthew and I am a second year graduate student earning a Masters of Social Work. Throughout my studies, I have focused on neighborhood development, mutual aid, and community organizing. Prior to pursuing a Masters of Social Work, I earned my undergraduate degree from The Citadel, the Military College of South Carolina, and later spent several years working in campaign politics, non-profit administration, and doing street outreach with the unhoused. Hailing from the "Paris of the Midwest" (aka Kalamazoo, Michigan), I have an appreciation for local breweries, quality food joints, and the outdoors. I hope to one day climb Denali and write a book of either romantic fiction or something worth sharing.

Hi :) I'm Jieun from South Korea! I am a 6th year Ph.D. student in psychology, studying how mindfulness makes people and our planet happy! (Mindfulness means being fully in the present moment) Before, I was a material scientist at Samsung Electronics, developing solar energy since environmental sustainability was my primary interest. However, I wanted to find a more fundamental way of stopping massive environmental destruction than developing technology, so I quit Samsung and traveled the world for two years. This travel made me realize that changing our minds into a more mindful and compassionate way would be a solution to stop not only environmental destruction but also numerous social problems and even individual problems, so now I am studying the psychology of mindfulness.

I also worked as an activist in an environmental organization, Future Forest, which plants trees in deserts, and I designed a park where people could experience how we can live our daily lives sustainably in harmony with nature and others. After graduation, I plan to integrate mindfulness programs, environment, and health subjects into the school curriculums.

Hi, I'm Sreya and I'm grad student, currently in the final year of my MFA in Dance at SMTD. I'm from Bangalore, India, and before coming to UMich, I did my undergraduate degree in English Literature at Ashoka University. I've worked professionally as a vocalist, an actor, and as a dance educator. I'm passionate about the intersection of these mediums, and believe in the immense power and value of the arts in our communities. I'm trained in classical Indian dance and yoga, but love learning more about other dance and theatre forms.

This is my second year at Telluride, and I'm on the Event Planning and Recruitment committees. House life can be really fulfilling, and I am so happy to be here for a second year. I love spending time with my friends (and housemates), dancing, reading, listening to and writing music, watching TV shows and engaging in outdoor adventure activities!

Hey, I'm Steve, and I'm a second-year graduate student working towards my MSW and MPP degrees. My study focus centers on community organizing and U.S. social policy development, with a focus on community-led/informed policy implementation practices. In addition to my studies, I manage an after-hours crisis program for Child Welfare out of Maryland. I will also be starting a research assistantship this year with the Ford School's Center for Local, State, and Urban Policy (CLOSUP), where I'll conduct case studies on the fiscal health of rural Michigan communities. Outside of all this work, I enjoy reading non-fiction, fishing, drinking coffee, and playing online video games (Battlefield is the GOAT)!

I have a background in public health and am currently pursuing a Master of Science in Information to link together the important role data plays in the public health sphere. I am a Michigander, but I am just coming back from a few years abroad in Southeast Asia. My hobbies include traveling, running, swimming, and hanging out with friends.

I'm Schnadè, and I'm in my third year of university. Usually, you can find me talking about theatre performance and linguistics. I love learning about how language evolves and how it captures the cultures we represent. Since middle school, I have wanted to be an actor, and as I got more deep into it, the power of words only strengthened for me. I became more aware of how my voice is the result of the many cultures that have influenced me: Haitian, South Floridian, etc. Funny enough, I went to a middle school dedicated to technology, and then went to a high school for the arts to study theatre. However, here at the University of Michigan, in a cool mix of interdisciplinary, I am set on pursuing computational linguistics in order to complement my artistic and humanities studies. My main focus within the School of Social Work is Welfare of Children & Families but I'm also interested in the policies involved with Social Work. I am from the Southside of Chicago (from the neighborhood called Back of the Yards, to be more specific). My hobbies include coloring, listening/discovering new music, and watching movies. As a new house member this year, I look forward to working together and making fun memories!

Hi, I’m Brooke, a second year graduate student in the Master of Public Policy (MPP) program. While my background centers higher education research, I have an interest in social determinants of health and how lack of access can exacerbate disparities in local communities. I’m passionate about process improvement and social policy, at the intersection of how city budgets, educational access, transportation, and housing impact poverty and welfare.

I’m from sunny Southern California but have been embracing all things Michigan. I enjoy cooking, the arts (especially knitting and film photography), journaling, camping, hiking, tennis, fishing, and sailing! My focus this year is to broaden my connection to Southeast Michigan, remind myself “[I] can do hard things,” and attend as many Ann Arbor District Library art workshops as possible.

Hello, I am a senior currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Among the various subjects I have studied throughout my academic journey, I have developed a strong affinity for Thermodynamics and materials behavior. Currently, I am actively engaged in research through the RISE program, where my focus lies in investigating defects in materials at the atomic level.

Beyond my academic pursuits, I have a keen interest in reading, particularly in the genres of fiction and non-fiction. My reading choices often gravitate towards self-development and business literature. One of my favorite authors in the realm of fiction is Fyodor Dostoevsky, while my preferred non-fiction book is "Atomic Habits" by James Clear.

In addition to my literary interests, I have a passion for music, DIY projects, and the martial art of Judo. Over the past few years, Judo has emerged as a significant passion of mine. I deeply appreciate the discipline and sense of community it fosters. My time on the mat serves as a means of disconnecting from the pressures of life, allowing me to unwind and immerse myself in the joy of training.

In addition to Judo, I maintain an active lifestyle by engaging in regular workouts, playing Badminton with friends, and taking leisurely walks around Ann Arbor. At Telluride house I hold the position of Logistics Committee Chair, further highlighting my commitment to organizational and leadership responsibilities.

I am a PhD candidate in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at University of Michigan. I am a theoretical and computational physicist writing my dissertation on semiconductor quantum optics. Besides physics, I am deeply interested in philosophy with a focus on nonduality.
