First PubSpeaks OF THE 2025 WINTER SEASON
On Jan. 30, house members Zuzanna and Zoey kicked off the winter semester with their first Pubspeaks of the season.
Zuzanna opened the event with a presentation "Risk and Harm" which touched on philosophical concepts of harm, risk, and knowledge. She defended her stance and engaged in a thoughtful response to her opponent (emphasis on OPP), Stephen Perry. Her talk sparked insightful discussion and reflection on the complexities of harm in philosophical theory.
Kaia followed with a brief history of Motown, the influential music era born in Detroit. She highlighted key figures like Barry Gordy, Diana Ross, Stevie Wonder, and Marvin Gaye, and explored Motown's lasting impact on the music industry and culture.
Pubspeaks, which are a regular feature of the house community, offer a platform for members to present on topics they are passionate about in an educational format. Each presentation is followed by a brief Q&A session, encouraging dialogue, intellectual inquiry, and a deeper understanding of the topic at hand. Keep up-to-date with more topics of our Pubspeaks as the semester continues!
